Early Peoples

The State of Mexico has many archaeological sites within its boundaries but the most famous is undoubtedly Teotihuacán which is featured in this photo gallery.  Teotihuacán was probably founded in about 100 BCE and reached its zenith in about 500 CE.  At its height it was the largest city in the Americas and probably the sixth-largest city in the world at that time.  It covered about eight square miles.
